DescriptionThis jug from the fourth century CE is made of pale glass with a slight olive tint. It has a sloped shoulder and pear-shaped body, with a narrow neck and flared rim. The curved handle and coiled rim are made of blue glass. Tiny bubbles, dark specks, and sand are visible in the glass. The jug was shaped by hand, and the small circular mark on the base shows where it was separated from the glassblower’s tool.
