DescriptionThis squat jug (Jug Class IA1b with coil handle IA2a) is formed of transparent pale olive glass (10 Y 6/2), with a similarly colored translucent handle and coil. The thin-walled body includes two vertical cords, along with several small spherical and pinprick bubbles, black specks, and some stone. The vessel is free-blown and tooled with a pontil mark approximately 1.1 cm in diameter. The added coil is partially preserved, with excess glass at the tip of the handle folded backward between the handle and loop at the top. The jug features a flaring circular mouth with a rim folded outward, upward, and inward. Its tapering neck transitions smoothly into a squat bulbous body with the widest diameter at the midpoint. The concave base has a tooled kick. A plain curved coil handle was applied from the shoulder to the rim and pressed downward to form a closed loop against the side of the mouth. Traces of a neck coil, applied from left to right, are still visible.
