DescriptionMedium thick glass. A few vertically elongated bubbles in neck; black specks, especially in mouth and in handle. Transparent natural grayish-green (near 10 GY 5/2). Streaky translucent grayish blue-green handle and coil (5 BG 5/2), appearing pale turquoise. Body blown into a vertically ribbed and grooved one-piece mold, then twisted and expanded. Neck and mouth free-blown. Pontil mark ca. 1.7 cm in diameter. Added coils. Excess glass at tip of handle folded up and back into rim loop. Flaring circular mouth; rim rounded in flame. Tall cylindrical neck with slight bulge above constriction at its base. Sloping shoulder. Hemispherical body. Concave base with tooled kick. Curved ribbon handle, with broad central rib flanked by two pairs of narrower ribs, applied to shoulder and attached to top of rim where it is folded down to form a closed loop against the underside of the mouth. Triple coil on mouth from left to right starting at rim. Neck coil attached from left to right. On body to halfway across base, counterclockwise thirty-nine narrow expanded mold-blown corrugations. CLASSIFICATION: Jug Class IIA1a with ribbed strap handle IIB2a.
