DescriptionMedium thin glass. Numerous pinprick bubbles, many burst at surface. Black specks and large sandy impurity in handle.
Translucent to transparent streaky manganese colored dusky red (near 5 R 3/4). Translucent pale olive ribbon handle (near 10 Y 6/2).
Free-blown. Pontil mark ca. 2.5 cm in diameter. Excess glass at tip of handle folded back into loop at rim. Base ring unevenly trimmed.
Spouted mouth; rim folded outward, upward, and inward. Cylindrical neck with slight taper and with curved transition to shoulder. Near horizontal shoulder. Bulbous body with greatest diameter at shoulder and slightly convex walls tapering to small applied base ring with outsplayed sides. Straight strap handle with two broad ribs, semicircular in section, applied to shoulder and attached to side of rim where it projects above the top of the rim and was pressed down to form a closed loop against the side of the mouth.
