BiographySenpo 仙歩 (Kobayashi Senkichi, 小林仙吉),1919-1994. Since age sixteen, was deaf as a result of middle-ear disease. Learned carving from his father, who started to carve netsuke after World War II. He was capable of producing exceptionally good netsuke. Worked in ivory. Subjects included history, folktales, and nature. His cicadas are especially noteworthy.
