DescriptionThis inverted piriform jug (Jug Class IA2a) is made from thin, free-blown and tooled glass with very few visible bubbles. The glass is transparent and slightly streaky, colored a manganese-toned grayish red (10 R 4/2), with a translucent, similarly colored coil handle. The horizontally flaring circular mouth has a rim rounded in flame. A tapering neck transitions smoothly into a sloping shoulder. The body is inverted piriform with nearly straight sides, and the base is open and pushed-in. A straight, plain flattened coil handle is applied to the shoulder and attached to the rim. The pontil mark measures approximately 0.95 cm in diameter.
