DescriptionThis somewhat bulbous bowl is made of translucent glass in mixed greenish-blue and red tones, producing a striking striated effect. The glass batch was not fully fused, resulting in bubbly glass with small black specks and visible blowing spirals; the bubbles appear intentional. The glass is transparent to translucent turquoise-green, with an opaque brownish-red streak along the rim that spirals halfway down the body, and a translucent dark purplish-blue streak in the lower part. The bowl is free-blown, with a round pontil scar off-center on the base, approximately 9.5 cm across. Its manufacture is irregular and rather crude, with a visible tool mark on the interior of the base. The mouth rim is flaring, folded outward and downward. The sides are convex, leading to a convex pushed-in base with a hollow tubular base ring.
