DescriptionThis double-tube vessel was made by free-blowing and tooling glass, with the body blown into a patterned mold. The pontil mark measures approximately 1.5 cm in diameter and has been ground off. The body was pinched once lengthwise to form two tubular compartments. The handles were added separately, with excess glass at the tips drawn back against the tops of the handles.
The glass is transparent natural grayish green (5 G 5/2) with translucent similarly colored handles that contain opaque red streaks. The hollow rim is folded inward and downward. The flattened body narrows at the waist and broadens toward the base, which is narrow and flattened. Two angular coil handles are applied to the body about 4.0 cm below the rim and are attached to the rim, folded inward, downward, and upward to form a closed loop. A separate basket handle is attached to the top of one side handle and connects to the top of the opposite handle.
From just below the rim to just above the base, the body displays expanded mold-blown corrugations that run diagonally from top right to lower left. This vessel is broken and repaired.
