Laura de Santillana

Venetian, 1955-2019
BiographyLaura is the granddaughter of a scholar, Giorgio Diaz de Santillana (1902-1974), and the daughter of the architect Ludovico de Santillana (1931-1989), who quietly took over the direction of the house of Venini in Venice after the death of her other grandfather, Paolo Venini (1895-1959). She was trained by the famous graphic designer Massimo Vignelli (1931-2014). In 1986, she founded with her father and her brother Alessandro the glass studio Eos Design nel Vetro. Since the mid-1990s she has been concentrating on her own work exclusively, sometimes collaborating with her brother on exhibitions. While she has been working in series, all of her pieces are unique objects.
