DescriptionFont probably blown and finished by tooling. Cut with eight flat flutes. Joined by a heavy cushion knop to an octagonal standard on a square plinth with chamfered corners. Standard and plinth pressed upside down in a female mold of two sections that formed the standard and upper surface of the plinth, the mold opening along two opposite corners of the standard as indicated by two faint moldmarks on the upper surface of the plinth, in conjunction with a one-piece female mold, square with chamfered corners, that formed the sides and corners of the plinth, by a male plunger, or plug, of domed and square form, the dome with eight large rounded ribs that formed the hollow interior of the plinth. Slight pontil mark around edge of ribs. Undersurface of edge of base ground and polished. Brass collar, possibly stamped, but with threads cut by a tap.
