DescriptionAppearing opaque dull purplish-black (color difficult to determine because of thickness of glass). Similarly colored handles. Opaque white thread.
Rod-tooled. Added thread. Excess glass at tips of handles melted into surface. Very thick glass.
Rim rounded and thickened in flame. Crimped neck. Gently sloping shoulder. Inverted conical body. Small non-functional disk-shaped knob at base. Vessel cannot stand. Two thick flattened curved coil handles applied to shoulder and attached to side of rim where they are folded upward, inward, and downward, and pinched to form vertical projections.
On shoulder, free-standing zigzag with at least twenty points in either direction.
CLASSIFICATION: Rod-tooled I A 1 b.
