BiographyRyūshi 龍之 (Komada Isamu), b. 1934. Brother to Ryuho. Studied with his father Ryusui, whose lineage goes back to Shungetsu, a master carver of the early nineteenth century. He started carving at fifteen and like his brother likes to care the female figure. His designs are marked by elegance and sometimes quiet humor. His workmanship is skilled and detailed; and the finish, polish, can coloring of his netsuke are particularly notable.
