DescriptionThis bowl was made by softening a disk of glass over a mold (a method called sagging) in the mid-2nd to early 1st century BCE. It has a conical shape, with gently sloping sides and a rounded rim. Decorative grooves were carefully cut into the surface, and polishing gives it a smooth finish. The slight greenish-yellow tint reflects natural impurities in the glass.
