Label TextBohemian glassmakers of Central Europe, building on their reputation for flawless transparent glass, became renowned in the 16th century for fine cobalt blue glass tableware that rivaled the quality of Venetian soda-lime glass production. Enameling, which had gone out of fashion in Italy by the 1530s, continued to be produced north of the Alps for another century.Published ReferencesPage, Jutta-Annette, The Art of Glass: Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo, Ohio, Toledo Museum of Art, 2006, p. 105, repr.
