DescriptionThis bulbous jar (Class AJ33) is made of transparent, manganese-colored glass with a streaky grayish red-purple hue (near 5 RP 4/2). The glass is free-blown and tooled, and a pontil mark is present but too fragmentary to measure.
The rim is folded outward, upward, inward, and downward. The jar has a tall, concave neck with an interrupted curve and a smooth transition to a gently sloping shoulder. The bulbous body reaches its greatest diameter near the shoulder. The base is small, flattened, and features a central depression.
Twelve irregularly spaced pinched ribs run from the top of the shoulder to below the midpoint of the body. These ribs can be felt as raised bulges on the interior surface.
