DescriptionThis pointed jar with a zigzag neck coil is free-blown and tooled from thin transparent decolorized glass with a grayish yellow green tinge (between 5 GY 7/2 and 5 GY 5/2); it features a translucent dusky blue green thread (5 BG 3/2) and small ovoid bubbles in the body. The pontil mark measures about 1.0 cm in diameter. The rim is rounded in flame, leading to a funnel neck and concave shoulder. Its bulbous body has its greatest diameter at the shoulder, with sides that taper to a point above the base before broadening to a flat base. A freestanding zigzag thread is applied to the shoulder and attached to the rim, trailed from left to right with 23 segments; at the twelfth turn, the thread is pulled horizontally along the neck coil and then down to the shoulder. The neck coil has two revolutions from left to right, and four revolutions of thread are trailed downward on the lower body. Nine irregular narrow indentations extend from the shoulder to above the base. This object is classified as a Jar Class I B 4 a.
