DescriptionThis jar is made of medium-thin glass in a transparent dusky yellow hue (between 5 Y 6/4 and 10 Y 6/2), with a translucent grayish blue-green zigzag coil (near 5 BG 5/2, but more blue). The body contains pinprick and small bubbles, blowing spirals, numerous dark specks, and an unintentional dark red streak in the decoration. The piece is free-blown, tooled, with an applied coil; the pontil mark is about 1.2 cm in diameter. Excess glass at the end of the zigzag was drawn out thin, folded back along the rim over the coil, and snapped off.
The vessel features a hollow outsplayed rim folded outward, upward, inward, and downward. It has a deeply concave neck with a curved transition to a nearly horizontal shoulder above a squat bulbous body with its greatest diameter at the midpoint. The base is flattened with a slight central depression. A freestanding zigzag coil is applied to the shoulder and attached to the rim, trailed on from left to right with 23 segments. This form corresponds to Jar Class IB1a.
