DescriptionThis piriform jug on a base ring (Jug Class IA3c with coil handle IAC2bc) is made of translucent dark royal blue glass with similarly colored handle and base coil. The glass is of medium-thin quality, with blowing spirals and concentrations of small vertically elongated bubbles. It was free-blown and tooled, with no pontil mark. Excess glass at the lower tip of the handle is folded upward and back against the top of the trail. The vessel has a circular mouth with an unworked rim and a slight bulge below. The neck is concave and funnel-shaped, transitioning gradually into a strongly sloped shoulder and a pear-shaped body. The base consists of a triple spiral coil. A plain angular wishbone handle is applied at the neck and body, continuing downward as a corrugated trail across the first spiral. A domed rectangular feature decorates the trail about 1.0 cm below the handle. A pinched diagonal projection serves as a thumbrest.
