BiographyShōkō 昇己 (Nishinō Shōkō 西野昇己), 1915-1969. Cousin of the carver Fukujiro Nishino and nephew of the famous Soko Morita. Began to study under Soko at the age of fifteen. Worked almost exclusively in wood. Subjects usually drawn from religion and legend, but designs always original and imaginative.
