Sherry Markovitz

American, Born 1947
BiographyBorn in Chicago, IL Sherry Markovitz lives and works in Seattle, WA. She received a BA in ceramics and art education from University of Wisconsin, Madison and an MFA in printmaking from the University of Washington, Seattle. Markovitz began working with beads in the early 1980s, using taxidermy forms as an underlying structure and further molding them with papier-mache, then finally encrusting them with glass beads and other glittery materials. Her work is represented in collections such as the Corning Museum of Glass, the John Michale Kohler Arts Center, Mint Museum, and Museum of Arts and Design.
