DescriptionThis piece is a collage of found paper elements, consisting primarily of a cut-out map of the 48 contiguous United States, centered and mounted on the water-stained back of a black-and-white school photograph. An old wooden frame (possibly original to the photograph) surrounds the collage, complete with glass protecting the verso. Effectively, the recto of Boghosian’s collage is the verso of the original framed photograph. A partial white-and-red label, perhaps with some very faint, illegible writing, is affixed to the bottom center of the wooden frame, beneath the map, probably not by the artist.
