DescriptionThe book contains 362 reproductions (19 in colors, incl. 3 fold-out leaves), incl. a catalogue raisonné with small reproduction of each of the 284 prints or multiples produced at Gemini G. E. L. in Los Angeles between 1966 and 1971; 1 additional color reproduction is printed on the front cover.
Laid in, a slip with a reproduction of this book/multiple, and a description: ". . . included in the box is a 10 1/2 x 8 1/2-inch multiple by Jasper Johns, Target 1970, specially commissioned for this publication. A two-color offset lithograph with a collage of watercolor pads and brush, the multiple invites you to collaborate with Jasper Johns in creating your own version of his Target."
54 separate leaves adhesive bound into coated white wove paper wrappers photolithographed in colors. The book is laid into a white plastic box with lettering molded into the top and bottom. The Jasper Johns multiple, "Target 1970," is affixed to the inside of the front board of the box, and is accompanied by a protective foam sheet.
