Label TextThis polished bronze mirror was likely owned by a woman and buried with her at Balabish, a cemetery in southern Egypt excavated in 1915. Mirrors were both practical objects and symbols of beauty, light, and rebirth. Though its original tomb is not recorded, this mirror belongs to the New Kingdom period (c. 1295–1070 BCE), when personal grooming tools were often placed in burials. The Balabish excavation revealed the range of objects included in tombs across different social groups.
