DescriptionA tunnel book, based on the antiquated form of the "peep show," a toy-like device resembling a private, miniature theater that was popular in the 19th century. Two cloth-covered boards hold several layers of photolithographed images through accordion hinges. A hole in the center of the top board allows viewers to look down through the multi-layered scene providing a literally three-dimensional image.
