DescriptionFont blown and patterned in a part-size dip mold with 12 arched flutes and finished by tooling, with a double-bladed knop at base. Joined by a cushion knop to a short cylindrical stem on a ribbed step, with a band of alternating darts and stylized foliate motifs on the rounded shoulder below, and a base with ribbed sides. Base pressed, probably by a bench press, possibly by a machine press, in a one-piece female mold bearing the pattern by a male plunger conforming to the shape of the exterior, with a ribbed lower end, a plain section opposite the foliate exterior, a band of small diamonds within a band of diamonds ending in a short plain cylinder, and a flat shoulder that formed the undersurface of the perimeter of the base. Slightly rough pontil mark in base. Double-wick cork-supported burner for whale oil.
