DescriptionBowl: pressed in a female mold of three vertical sections bearing the California pattern by a plain male plunger that formed the interior and top of the lip, in conjunction with another male plunger bearing a pattern of diamonds, each enclosing a dot encircling a petaled flower, that formed the slightly concave underside of the base and foot. The moldmarks extend from the bottom edge of the foot vertically to the top of the rim in the medial rib between every other two panels. No pontil mark. Cover: pressed upside down in a one-piece plain female mold of octagonal form, in conjunction with a two-piece female mold that formed the octagonal finial, by a male plunger bearing alternating patterns of cornucopia, trellis, bellflower, and pine tree, none of which is the same as any pattern on the bowl.
