DescriptionBowl: pressed upright in a female mold of two vertical sections bearing the so-called balloon pattern (each section bearing four panels depicting a balloon, a harp, a heart, or a leaf above a container of balls), with a base plate that formed the lower edge and underside of the base, with a cap ring that formed the upper and inner surfaces of the scalloped rim, by a plain male plunger. The moldmarks extend from the lower edge of the foot to the rim. Rim fire-polished. No pontil mark. Cover: pressed upside down in a one-piece female mold bearing four panels to match the bowl, in conjunction with a two-piece plain female mold that formed the finial and a one-piece female mold that formed the rest of the exterior, probably with a cap ring that formed the underside of the rim, by a plain male plunger. No fire-polishing. No pontil mark.
