DescriptionBody decorated with three panels, each consisting of a cut and engraved stylized tulip within a square frame surrounded by a series of vesica and diamond motifs, the outer petals of the tulip and the vesicas filled with cross-hatched decoration, all within another square frame. Between the frames the body is decorated with vertical panels of fine cross-hatching and vertical lines. Lower part of body and shoulder cut with flats. Neck rings cut with hob diamonds. Edge of lip cut with a series of elongated horizontal hexagons. The 4.5 cm (1 3/4 in.) diameter polished pontil mark is surrounded by forty-two cut narrow rays that extend to the outer edge of the base. Upper part of stopper cut with eight flat tapered panels that extend downward to the shank. Shank ground and polished to fit the ground and polished neck of the decanter. Colorless non-lead glass. Decanter: blown and finished by tooling. Three applied and tooled neck rings. Applied and tooled narrow flange lip. Polished pontil mark. Stopper: blown and finished by tooling.
