DescriptionThis carinated bowl was assembled from sections of cane and cast, then rotary-polished on both surfaces with an applied base ring. It has a broad, horizontal rim with a rounded edge and a carinated side formed by two convex curves. The upper side of the bottom is concave while the underside is convex. The outsplayed base ring has an almost flat edge. The composite mosaic pattern is formed from polygonal sections of four distinct canes: the first shows a purple ground with opaque yellow rods; the second has a purple ground with concentric circles of opaque white and purple around a central opaque yellow spiral; the third features a pale green ground with an opaque yellow spiral; and the fourth displays a greenish-gray ground with numerous opaque yellow rods surrounding a central opaque white spiral. The base ring is executed in a purple ground.
