DescriptionThis aryballos is made of thick glass in a transparent to translucent natural dusky yellow hue (5 GY 5/2) with pinprick and small spherical bubbles. It is free-blown, tooled, wheel-cut, with applied handles. The base shows no pontil mark.
The vessel features a hollow collar rim folded outward, downward, outward again, upward, and flattened to form a brim. Its cylindrical neck has a constriction at its base and transitions to a horizontal shoulder above a fully spherical body with a slightly flattened base. Two small coil handles extend from the shoulder to just below the rim. Around the center of the body are three bands of wheel-cut incisions; the middle band is a shallow groove. This form corresponds to Isings 1957, Form 61.
