Label TextWynkyn de Worde, Caxton's successor, was one of the chief printers in London in the late fifteeenth and early sixteenth century. He had published the first edition of this book in 1494. On the back of the title page, the texts states: "Here after followeth the chaptyres of this present volume of Walter Hylton, named in layton (Scala perfectionis) englysshed, the ladder of preccyon..." Wynkyn de Worde's bold colophen ends the book.
