Etienne Charles LeGuay
French, 1762 - 1846
the porcelain painter Étienne Henri Le Guay. He worked as a painter
and gilder at the Manufacture Impériale de Sèvres from 1771, and later
also for the porcelain factory of Dihl and Guerhard. Between 1795 and
1819, Le Guay exhibited miniature portraits at the Salon, some on
porcelain, and became known as one of the foremost miniaturists of his
time. He married his student Marie-Victoire Jaquotot in 1801. The
couple divorced in 1809.
