Ann Heyl

BiographyArtist is Ann Heyl, who was around ten years of age upon completion of her sampler. She was the fifth child of Johannes Heyl 1750-1788) and Anna Maria Strickler. She married David Seeger (1767-1830), a Philadelphia confectioner, and they were childless.

Born circa 1779, Ann was fifth among the seven children of Johannes Heyl (1750-1788) and Anna Maria (Strickler) Heyl, who married in Philadelphia in 1771 at the German Reformed Church. The Heyl family in America began with Georg Thomas Heil / Heyl (1702-1773) who was born in Baden, Germany and emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1739, sailing on the ship, Friendship.
