Mary Elizabeth Kennedy

BiographyMary Elizabeth Kennedy was born in 1911 in Boykin, Alabama. Her parents were sharecroppers on a subsistence farm where they grew cotton and sorghum. She was associated with the Gee's Bend community of quilters. Kennedy had twelve children and died in 1991 at the age of eighty in a car accident on her way back to Boykin from
Selma.
