Arthur L. Werger

American, born 1955
BiographyArt Werger was born in Ridgewood, New Jersey in 1955. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1978 and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1982. Since 2000, he has been the Director of Foundations and Professor of Printmaking at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

The recipient of numerous awards and honors, Werger won the Grand Prize at the Third International Mezzotint Festival in Yekaterinburg, Russia (2015) and the Award of the Rector at the International Print Triennial in Krakow, Poland (2012). He was recently the subject of solo exhibitions at the Dayton Visual Art Center and Yekaterinburg Museum
in 2017 and an exhibition at the Center for Graphic Art and Visual Research in Belgrade, Serbia is planned for 2020. Werger’s prints can be found in many public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, Brooklyn Museum, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
