Label TextThis cylindrical steatite seal is inscribed with the titles and three cartouches of Amenemhat III, a significant ruler of Egypt’s Middle Kingdom, known for stabilizing the economy and commissioning major building projects, including the famed Labyrinth at Hawara. The inscription identifies Amenemhat III by his throne name Nematre: “King of Upper and Lower Egypt, Nematre, Good God, Lord of the Two Lands, Nematre, Son of Re, Amenemhat.” These titles emphasize the king’s divine authority, his role as the unifier of Egypt, and his connection to the sun god Re.
