Label TextChinese ceramic wares with a variety of bright enamel colors appealed to Western taste and became known as seven color wares. In fact, the Chinese term for these porcelains is ci tai hua falang, or porcelain painted with foreign enamels, indicating such porcelains were not made for the Chinese, but for European markets.Published ReferencesHai-Wai, Yi-Chen, Chinese art in overseas collections; Pottery & porcelain II, Taipei, 1989, fig. 175, p. 177.Qing Dynasty (1644-1912)
