DescriptionThis small hemispherical bowl (patella) is made of opaque red glass. The bowl has an outsplayed rim with a rounded edge, convex curving sides, and a slightly concave upper floor with a slightly convex underside. It sits on an outsplayed base ring with a flat edge, which was cast as part of the vessel. A horizontal depression was cut on the exterior of the base ring. The entire vessel was cast and rotary-polished on both surfaces and cut on the exterior. The glass is intact but shows slight iridescence and pitting, with patches of brown and green weathering, and modern polishing on both surfaces.
