Label TextGerman-born artist Anja Isphording draws closely from nature to create forms characterized by their texture and saturated color. Isphording resists directly defining her work; she does not have an artistic statement explaining her thoughts and she identifies her works of art with numbers rather than descriptive titles. In this way, she creates a space for the work to speak for itself, inviting the viewer’s own interpretation. Working from her own observational drawings, Isphording hand-molds each piece in beeswax before casting it in pâte de verre—a glass paste made of ground glass frit and a binding agent.Published ReferencesNew Glass Review 38, The Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, New York, 2017. p. 109 repr.
