DescriptionOpaque black, reddish brown, transparent red, opaque yellow, and aventurine non-lead glasses; flameworked with metallic inclusions. Life-size insect; small black head with pincers, reddish-brown applied eyes, pair of reticulated antennae curve forward; short black ovoid front half made of aventurine glass, sharply waisted to narrow elongated rear section in translucent brown with wings of brown glass spots mottled over yellow, vertical stripes tapering to a point, top has a central crease accented in brown; three pairs of articulated black legs, one pair on front lobe extending forward, two pair on rear lobe extending backward.
