Label TextThis faience ring was excavated in 1923–1924 by the Egypt Exploration Society at Amarna, the city built by Pharaoh Akhenaten as the center of his new religious order. Faience was a favored material in ancient Egypt for small decorative objects like this, valued for its bright, glassy surface. The ring was assigned to the Toledo Museum of Art through the EES’s official division of finds, following one of the most influential excavations of its time.
