DescriptionThis free-blown and tooled glass vessel, classified as a Double Tube IIE2a, consists of two flattened tubular compartments that broaden toward their greatest diameter above the base, then curve down to a narrow, round base. The hollow rim is folded outward, upward, inward, and downward. The glass is transparent to translucent dark purplish-blue (not in rock color chart), with similarly colored side handles and glass from the pontil rod. The vessel is made of medium thin glass with small and medium-sized vertically elongated bubbles, a few of which are burst at the surface. The fabric cannot be determined due to weathering. The pontil mark shows remains of a round pontil wad approximately 1.6 cm in diameter and 0.6 cm thick. A tool mark is visible at the top of the basket handle.
The body is pinched once lengthwise. Two double-tiered angular coil side handles are applied to the middle of the body, touched down to the upper body, and attached to the rim, with the top curve of each handle projecting above the rim line. An angular basket handle, made from a separate coil with a circular section, is attached to the outside of the top curve of the right side handle and connects to the outside of the top curve of the left side handle. Excess glass at the tips of the handles is drawn back against their tops.
