Label TextThis is a portrait of the Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I (reigned 1493-1519), a man who was a patron of all of the important artists of his time. He employed Dürer, Hans Burgkmair, Albrecht Altdorfer, and Lucas Cranach among others.
