At the time of the photo’s publication Linda Butler wrote, “This two-hundred-year-old garden is located outside a private home in the historic river town of Tsushima. Unfortunately, this plot of land will be covered with concrete when a highway is built connecting Tsushima and Nagoya. When community members protested, the city agreed to move the house and the entire garden to another site.”Exhibition HistoryToledo Museum of Art, Refraction/Reflection, April 20-September 2, 2012.
