Label TextPeter Keetman was known for his dramatic images produced for industrial publications and advertising designs. He was a founding member of a group called Fotoform that continued, with inevitable changes, the photographic aesthetic of the Bauhaus school in Germany with emphasis on abstraction and darkroom manipulation. In this image Keetman has applied avant-garde style to a commercial image. Light is used to emphasize the texture of the soap powder and adds monumentality through the long shadows.Exhibition HistoryToledo Museum of Art, Refraction/Reflection, April 20-September 2, 2012.
