DescriptionPrinting completed on 22 July 1952. A simultaneous American edition was published by Simon and Schuster, New York, with the title, The Decisive Moment. The cover was designed and executed by Matisse especially for this publication. Sewn gatherings (unsigned, 1--24 32 4--104 116 12--194 202 212 ±211 ) case bound into white wove paper covered boards, with a protective glassine jacket. The first and final leaves are affixed to the boards as pastedowns. A pochoir of a cut paper composition by Henri Matisse, incorporating his hand lettering, is printed in black, with green and blue, across both boards. Dealer’s note in pencil on leaf 2.
