Label TextSixteen editions of this popular work, a compilation of information on the arts and sciences, were printed during the sixteenth century. It contains ten full-page woodcuts and many diagrams. One of the most interesting illustrations is The Tower of Knowledge, which shows a child entering the tower. The figure unlocking the door with a key marked Grammar, also holds a Horn Book. The heads of noted scholars are shown in the window of each level. Included in this edition are also a folded map of the world, pages of music in horseshoe nail notation, and a diagram of diapason, the entire compass of tones.
