BiographyLela Gutierrez was married to noted potter Van Gutierrez. Their children, Luther and Margaret, continued in their traditional style of pottery. She began making pottery in the 1930’s. Her early pieces are signed, “Lela’ and then later signed “Lela/Van”. After Van passed away she then worked with Luther from 1956-66 and the work is signed, “Lela/Luther”.
