Igshaan Adams was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1982. He is the recipient of numerous acclaimed awards and residencies including the Atelier residency at Zeitz MOCAA in Cape Town, the Sommerakademie im Zentrum Paule Kleee in Bern, and the IAAB Pro Helvetia in Basel, among others. Adams was awarded the Standand Bank Young Artist Award for Visual Art and his works are including in the permanent collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; Moderna Museet, Stockholm; Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago; Baltimore Museum of Art, Baltimore; Inhotim Museum, Brazil; Iziko South African National Gallery, Cap Town; and Minneapolis Institute of Art, Minneapolis.
