Kelly AkashiAmerican, born 1983

Kelly Akashi received her MFA at University of South California in 2014, her MFA at Otis College of Art & Design, both in LA, and attended the renowned Städelschule in Frankfurt, Germany, in 2010. She has been in many institutional group exhibitions including at the Hammer Museum, UCLA; The Clark, Williamstown, MA; White Cube, London; Museum of Contemporary Art, Detroit; Jewish Museum, New York; Ballroom Marfa, TX; Astrup Fearnley Museet, Oslo; among others. As an emerging to mid-career artist, she is gaining further visibility and her first major solo exhibition, Kelly Akashi: Formations, opened in September 2022 at the San José Museum of Art, and is traveling to the Frye Art Museum, Seattle, and Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego. Akashi is in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum; Hammer Museum, UCLA; LACMA; Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego; Sifang Museum, Nanjing; Walker Art Center, among others.
